Giving back is good. And supporting music education for inner city schools is vital. So Uncommon Music gives a percentage of its profits to Education Through Music – Los Angeles, a non-profit organization which provides and promotes music in disadvantaged schools.
ETMLA forms long term partnerships with inner city elementary and middle schools that lack the resources for school wide programs. They hire music teachers and teaching artists so that music is taught both as a subject in its own right and as a means of supporting learning in other areas.
Its mission is something we care dearly about. As musicians, how could we do anything else?
